•Enantiospecific interactions are probed using a functionalized AFM cantilever•A force difference of 70 pN between homo- and heterochiral pairs is obtained•The directional resulting from transient spin exchange interactions•Toy model calculations reveal the short range directionality Most biological molecules chiral. Interestingly, in life, they appear one chirality. This not trivial as most non-biological chemistry achiral. Indeed, earliest evidence for amino acids on earth suggests that both enantiomers were present. One driving forces to preserve homochirality life may be enantiomer-specific forces. Here, interaction chiral peptides molecule atomic microscope. The results show same-handed (chirality) polypeptides generate large attraction potentials (?10 Kcal/mol), agreement with simulations. force, related chiral-induced selectivity (CISS) effect, ranged therefore especially relevant crowded systems. places symmetry constraints protein folding, it provide reason preserving chirality life. Magnetic force probe for nanoscale biomolecules.
We present a new technique to measure the mechanical properties of small biomolecules. This technique uses long range repulsive colloidal forces together with magnetic attraction as a force probing tool. The biomolecules are grafted between superparamagnetic particles, which are regularly spaced within long chains maintained by an external magnetic field. Varying the magnetic field results in c...

Many processes in the body are effected and regulated by highly specialized protein molecules: These molecules certainly deserve the name "biochemical nanomachines". Recent progress in single-molecule experiments and corresponding simulations with supercomputers enable us to watch these "nanomachines" at work, revealing a host of astounding mechanisms. Examples are the fine-tuned movements of t...
متن کاملEnantiospecific desorption of chiral compounds from chiral Cu(643) and achiral Cu(111) surfaces.
Temperature-programmed desorption (TPD) experiments have been conducted to investigate enantiospecific desorption from chiral single-crystal surfaces. The (643) and (six four three) planes of face-centered cubic metals such as Cu have kinked and stepped structures which are nonsuperimposable mirror images of one another and therefore are chiral. These chiral surfaces are denoted Cu(643)(R) and ...

متن کاملfor New Middle-East in its Interaction with Domination System
Middle-east region has been at the center of attention since a long time ago due to its special geopolitical situation as well as its bountiful energy resources. Domination system's attention to this region is because they try to secure their future energy and guarantee Israel's security against Islamic countries subsequent to Islamic awakening. Therefore natural resources in this region can be...
